Northeast Texas Children’s Museum – Small Museum, Big Impact

NETCMMore than 60 miles from Dallas, the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum is located in Commerce, TX and serves a primarily rural area. Because of this, we weren’t sure how our first year participating in North Texas Giving Day in 2015 would go. We were blown away by Commerce and northeast Texas’ support for our little museum! The support of our community helps to keep our doors open to the families that have come to rely on NETXCM for an affordable, entertaining place to play and learn.

NETXCM is a small museum making a big impact in north Texas. Our many exhibits provide opportunities for children to have a creative and enriching learning experience. Last year, we had 25,000 visitors (that’s almost three times the population of Commerce!) from seventy-three different communities and six states, many of whom happily traveled over an hour to reach us.

NETXCM also offer engaging learning opportunities through our educational programming. Around 8,000 students from sixty schools came to NETXCM for field trips and educational programs in the 2015-2016 school year. With our Dino Math and Weird Science programs, students get hands-on, fun experiences with math and science equipment many schools can’t afford. Our field trips offer lessons on health and science while Healthy Kids from A to Z introduces a healthy lifestyle through crafts and activities to preschoolers.

We are so excited to participate in North Texas Giving Day again this year. Proceeds to NETXCM will go to introducing new educational programming, enhancing our exhibit areas, and increasing our community events.
