Each family’s ethnic and cultural heritage is honored and respected.

Now more than ever, when we are overwhelmed by the anguish of racial tension, political strife and public violence, we hold fast to the knowledge that Montessori education – our work – shines a guiding light of peace that is changing the world. We look to Dr. Montessori’s words, “If help and salvation are to come, they can only come from the children, for the children are the makers of men.”

Montessori education is based on self-directed activity and hands-on learning. In classrooms richly equipped to meet developmental needs, children are guided to explore, discover, learn, and create.  This approach leads to deep understanding of academic subjects, highly developed social and executive function skills, and lifelong love of learning. It nurtures innovative thinking, creative problem-solving, teamwork and collaboration, and peaceful conflict resolution.

potential. Our graduates are transforming the way children are educated, laying the foundation for success in school and life, and for a world of peace.

Our teachers create a culture of peace from the very beginning. Our toddler and preschool teachers carefully model behavior, offer lessons of “grace and courtesy” for social situations, and teach the language of peaceful interaction.

Our elementary teachers draw on the child’s burning interest in social relationships, fairness and justice, offering opportunities to solve social problems through conflict resolution and peer mediation. Our visionary elementary curriculum feeds the intellect in the broadest and deepest way, and builds the understanding that all life is interrelated; that interdependence and reverence for life are essential to survival; and that the ability to feel love, respect, and gratitude – even for people we do not know – is our uniquely human gift.

Our work has never been more urgent or necessary. In 1937, on the eve of World War II, Dr.

Montessori spoke of peace and the brotherhood of man:

An atmosphere of peace begins with mindful presence.

“The new human being must show us how to make all mankind aware of its unity. Amid the shadows of doubt and fear that hang heavily over the human race, we can now catch a glimpse of the light that will dissipate them, because a new society is already coming into being. A new humanity for a new world is already being born!”

At MINT we train the teachers who guide and nurture these new human beings – the new humanity for a new world.
